Ecuador company will use Octopus’ recommendations while drilling 7 wells

On March 27th 2018 experts of Octopus and Research Institute of Applied Informatics and Mathematical Geophysics of Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University held a meeting in Moscow with representatives of oil company  Pacif Petrol (Ecuador). The contacts with Ecuador counterparts were established earlier during business mission to Latin America. General Director of Octopus, Mentor of Skolkovo Foundation, Dmitry Ponomarenko was one of the participants of that mission. Mission itself had been undertaken under auspices of Skolkovo Foundation. During Moscow rounds Ecuador colleagues offered to Russian partners to update geological model of interest zones of Santa Elena Peninsula. There had been struck the contract on reprocessing of 3D CDP seismic data with application of innovative method, based on diffraction effect of acoustic waves in geological mediums(CSPD). The results obtained had allowed defining zones which had abnormal properties for diffraction, associated with decompression zones of rock formations. Based on analysis outputs Russian experts recommended Ecuador partners to seriously amend drill plan of 7 exploratory wells on Santa Elena Peninsula.
